2.5 Axes > Profile Open Contour

Cut along the edges of open contours.

Note: To create a "final pass" for 2.5X VoluMill Pocket procedures, the 2.5X - Profile Open Contour procedure can be used immediately after the VoluMill Pocket procedure. Parameter values, such as "Cutting Mode", are inherited between procedures.

1. For Technology, choose 2.5 Axes as the main selection, and Profile Open Contour as the subselection.

2. Choose the appropriate cutter.

3. Define the contours (open or closed), part surfaces, and check surfaces.
   When selecting contours in this procedure, the Open Section in the Contour Manager enables you to define open sections on closed contours. Cimatron prevents air milling motions for open segments, so the toolpath is created only on the part’s walls, avoiding the open segment.

4. Define the following Motion Parameters:

   • Approach & Retract

   • Clearance & UCS

   • Entry & End Points

   • Boundary Settings

   • Tolerance & Surf. Offset

   • Tool Trajectory

   • Stock

   • Optimizer

   • User Parameters

5. Define the Machine Parameters.

6. When finished, you can choose from the following Work Mode Dialog buttons:

   • Save & Close to suspend

   • Save & Calculate to execute

   • Save Original

   • Cancel
