PMI Functions

Access: Open this group of functions from the following location:

  • Select Tools > PMI from the menu bar. Select the required function.

The following PMI functions appear under the Tools > PMI Tools menu and/or the PMI Toolbar in the Modeling environment.

Activate PMI M-View

Activate a previously created M-View to re-orientate the display to the plane of the selected M-View. All new PMI is now created in this plane.

Convert to Curve Text

Convert PMI Curve Text (created by the Curve Text PMI function) to standard wireframe curve text features.

Coordinate Label

Create PMI Coordinate Label symbols and assign them to appropriate entities.

Curve Text PMI

Create PMI Text that can be used as a curve. Create and position PMI text from text defined in any language, font, or according to specific parameters. The result is an annotation that behaves as geometry when exported to NC, Drafting, or external files.

In an assembly, this function is available when a part is activated.
The PMI text curve is associated to the picked entity. A PMI that loses associativity remains in its last position and changes color.
In addition, all PMI curve text in an assembly can be replaced by using the Replace PMI Curve Text function.

Datum Target

Create a PMI Datum Target symbol and assign it to the appropriate entity.

Delete

Delete PMI regardless of the currently active part.

Dimension

Create PMI Dimension symbols and assign them to appropriate entities.

Geometrical Datum

Create PMI Geometrical Datum symbols and assign them to appropriate entities.

Geometrical Tolerance

Create PMI Geometrical Tolerance symbols and assign them to appropriate entities.

Replace PMI Curve Text

Replace multiple Curve Text PMI annotations throughout the assembly. This replaces all instances of the selected text throughout the assembly.

Styles & Settings

The PMI Styles and Settings enables you to control the default style for drawing newly-created symbols.

Surface Finish

Create PMI Surface Finish symbols and assign them to appropriate entities.

Surface Roughness

Create PMI Surface Roughness symbols and assign them to appropriate entities.

Text

Create PMI Text labels and assign them to appropriate entities.

Update PMI

Update PMI data. In some cases (especially for symbolic text), the PMI might not be updated automatically.

For additional PMI operations, such as editing, exporting PMI text to a file, etc., see PMI Popup Menus.
