-
For Technology, choose Remachine as the main selection, and Cleanup or Cleanup Contours Only as the subselection.
Cleanup |
Identifies and cleans unmachined areas that remain after previous machining operations. |
Cleanup Contours Only |
To enable the use of any cutter combinations, this procedure enables
the creation of auxiliary contours in the Cleanup
procedure, without creating motions. These contours can then be used later
as input to any other procedure. |
Note: The procedure and parameter explanations refer to the Cleanup procedure. Where the parameters also appear in the Cleanup Contours Only procedure, the relevant explanations also apply.
Hints and tips for Cleanup procedures
Notes:
-
The system supports a certain relationship between the previous and current cutters (the same flat portion). If the combination of the cutters is different, the system internally uses a larger previous cutter which may result in redundant motions and/or excessive material removal.
-
Conic cutters can be used in Cleanup and Rest Milling as Previous and Current cutters. These cutters are considered by the system as cutting with the Ball/Bull nose part of the cutter only. The conic part of the cutter is considered as Shank for gouge checking.
If the Current cutter is conic, the Down Step must be less than the Corner Radius.

Create this procedure
See Creating a Procedure for a general explanation.
Notes:
-
When a previous procedure leaves material, Cleanup takes this remaining material as the stock.
-
If there is no remaining material from a previous procedure (the current procedure is either a single procedure or has no connection with the previous procedure), Cleanup uses the remaining material that remains from the previous tool of this procedure.
-
For Technology, choose Remachine as the main selection, and Cleanup or Cleanup Contours Only as the subselection.
-
Choose the appropriate cutter.
Note: The Minimum Clear Length calculation is available for this function.
-
Define the part surfaces, check surfaces and, only if necessary, define the boundary area.
-
Define the following Motion Parameters:
Notes:
-
If the Consider Previous Stock parameter is set to Yes, operating the ReRough parameter would use the previous stock calculated from previous operations.
-
If the Consider Previous Stock parameter is set to Faces Offset, operating the ReRough parameter would use the offset from the part and check faces as the previous stock.
-
If the Consider Previous Stock parameter is set to No, the ReRough parameter is not available - the parameter option is grayed out.
-
Define the Machine Parameters.
-
When finished, you can choose from the following Work Mode Dialog buttons:
(These options are also available on the Procedure popup submenu.)
