Cutters can be imported/exported to/from the cutter table of the currently active NC file.
Import
Cutters can be imported from CSV, XLS, or ZIP files.
Shaped cutters can be imported from STEP, IGES, STL, ELT, DXF, or DWG files.
Note: Multiple CSV files of the same type can be imported at the same time. For example, multiple cutter, holder, or extension CSV files.
The following cutter import options are available from the Cutters and Holders dialog or the Cutter Library dialog.
|
Import tools (XLS, CSV or ZIP): Import cutters, holders, and extensions from a XLS, CSV, or ZIP file into the Cutter Table of the currently active NC file. For holders, see Import Holders. |
|
Import Shaped Cutters, Shaped Holders, or Shaped Extensions into the Cutter Table. Note: Shaped Holders or Shaped Extensions can be imported from the Extensions Parameters or Holder Parameters tabs in the Cutters and Holders dialog or the Cutter Library dialog.
|
|
Import CoroPlus Cutters: Import Coromant CoroPlus© cutters into the Cutter Table of the currently active NC file. |
|
Import TDM Cutters: Import TDM Systems cutters into the Cutter Table of the currently active NC file. |
Additional Import methods
External Cutter Library Application: In addition to the above method, you can also invoke an external application from within Cimatron.
Additional InformationAdditional Information
This functionality enables you to invoke an external application from within Cimatron.
The external application is activated within Cimatron, and the cutter and holder information is imported from a CSV file into the Cutter Table of the currently active NC file. For an example of this, see Iscar Tool Advisor (ITA) to Cimatron.
To activate the external application from within Cimatron, an EXE or a BAT file which invokes the external application must reside in the following Cimatron folder:
...\ProgramData\Cimatron\Cimatron\2026.0\Data\Nc\External Cutters
Cimatron automatically recognizes the EXE/BAT file and the Cutters and Holders dialog is displayed with the following additional interaction:
External Cutters: |
A dropdown list of external applications is displayed. Each external application name corresponds to the name of the EXE/BAT file (in this example, the EXE file ImportCutterToE.exe was placed in the above mentioned folder). Multiple EXE/BAT files can be placed in the folder, thereby increasing the list of applications. |
To invoke the external application:
Select the appropriate application from the dropdown list:
Cimatron creates a command line that will activate the application selected. The command line contains one parameter:
The parameter contains the full path and name of the CSV file from which Cimatron will import the data to the cutter table of the currently open NC file.
When the application terminates, Cimatron imports all the contents of the above CSV file into the Cutter Table of the currently active NC file.
Cimatron API: In addition to the above method, you can also invoke an external application that imports cutter and holder information from a CSV file into a CHL file.
Additional InformationAdditional Information
This functionality is enabled by the Cimatron API function INcModel::ConvertCSVCutters2CHL. This API function enables you to invoke an external application from outside of Cimatron.
The external application is activated externally and the cutter and holder information is imported from a CSV file into a CHL file.
See the Cimatron API function INcModel::ConvertCSVCutters2CHL for additional information.
Export
Cutters can be exported (with or without holders) to CHL, CSV, XLS, or ZIP files.
When exporting to CSV format, up to five (5) separate CSV files can be generated in a single operation for cutters, holders, shape, materials, and coolant.
The following cutter export options are available from the Cutters and Holders and Cutter Library dialogs:
|
Export selected cutters to a library file: Export selected cutters (with or without holders) to a library (CHL) file. |
|
Export selected tools (XLS, CSV or ZIP): Export the entire tool information for selected cutters (including holders, shape, materials, and coolant) to an XLS, CSV, or ZIP file. |
Additional operations
TDM Cutters can be exported via the Job Manager. For more, see Export TDM Cutters.
In addition to the import/export cutter operations, the following operations enable you to add cutters to the cutter table of the active NC file:
|
