Surface Milling > Finish Horiz. Planar Areas

Access:

  1. Create a procedure.

  2. For Technology, choose Surface Milling as the main selection, and Finish Horiz. Planar Areas as the subselection.

Mill horizontal areas using either Parallel or Spiral machining.

See Creating a Procedure for a general explanation.

  1. For Technology, choose Surface Milling as the main selection, and Finish Horiz. Planar Areas as the subselection.

  2. Choose the appropriate cutter.

Note: The Minimum Clear Length calculation is available for this function.

  1. Define the part surfaces, check surfaces and, only if necessary, define the boundary area.

    Notes:

      • If the boundary area is the same as the stock area, do not define a boundary area.

      • Define a boundary if the area to be milled meets one of the following criteria:

        • The boundary is completely within the stock area.

        • The boundary extends beyond the stock by a distance of, at least, the tool diameter.

  2. Define the following Motion Parameters:

Note: Within the Stock & Holder Tracking parameters, you can define whether remaining stock should be considered. Remaining stock is used to control the approach and retract motions and the air motion height. Considering the remaining stock will cause the procedure to be suspended if there are changes in one of the previous procedures.

  1. Define the Machine Parameters.

  1. When finished, you can choose from the following Work Mode Dialog buttons:

    • Save & Close to suspend

    • Save & Calculate to execute

    • Save Original

    • Cancel

(These options are also available on the Procedure popup submenu.)
