File Menu

Access: Select File from the menu bar to display the File dropdown menu.

The following functions appear under the File menu.

The table below can be sorted; it has clickable headers that sort the table by the clicked column. The table is initially sorted by Function name.

File Tools	Add Pictures	Add pictures to the file (to be displayed as a preview image) in the Cimatron Explorer. Pictures may also be captured by taking a snapshot of the current state of a file.
New File	Assembly File	Open a new assembly file in the defined units of measurement (mm/inch).
Exit	Close	Close the current file.
Exit	Close All	Close all currently open files.
New File	Color Sets Example File	Open a new color sets example file in the defined units of measurement (mm/inch).
File Tools	Cimatron Explorer	Open the Cimatron Explorer.
New File	Drawing File	Open a new drawing file in the defined units of measurement (mm/inch).
New Project	Electrode Setup Wizard	Setup a new Electrode Project.
Exit	Exit Cimatron	Close Cimatron and Exit.
Export	Export	Export a Cimatron file to an external file format.
Export	Export by Pick	Export selected entities to an external file format.
Export	Export to Drafting	Export geometry to a drawing file based on a selected template.
Export	Export to Part	Export entities to a new part file.
Export	Export to NC	Export a part (from a Cimatron Part file) or multiple parts or sub-assembly (from a Cimatron Assembly file) to a single Cimatron NC (Subtractive Manufacturing) file for post-printing operations, such as milling, drilling, etc. When files have been exported to NC, the NC environment is loaded and the Import from Part/Assembly function is invoked.
Import	Get from Catalog	Open the catalog, select a catalog part, and create a new copy of it.
Import	Import	Import a file from an external file format to a new Cimatron file.
Import	Import from Part/Assembly	Import geometry from a part or an assembly.
Import	Import from Template	Import Sets and M-Views from a template file.
Import	Import Geometry	Import selected geometry to the active component.
Import	Import to Current	Import a file from an external file format to the current Cimatron file.
File Tools	Pack	Pack (compress) associated Cimatron files into a single Compressed Transfer File (CTF).
Import	Parametric Import	Import the geometry of a part file while allowing to change the values of its leading dimensions and merge it with an existing body.
New File	Part File	Open a new part file in the defined units of measurement (mm/inch).
File Tools	Plot	Plot the current file.
File Tools	Print	Print out the current file.
File Tools	Print by Batch	Print a selection or group of files all at once without the need to open and print each file individually.
File Tools	Print Preview	Show a preview of the print out before printing.
File Tools	Properties (of File)	Show the properties of the current file.
Export	Publish to PDF	Publish to PDF to create 3D PDF files that include parts and assemblies from Cimatron. When the Publish to PDF button is selected, a dialog is displayed giving you additional controls before the selected entities are exported to PDF.
File Operation	Open File	Open file(s) using the Cimatron Explorer.
New Project	Mold Setup Wizard	Setup a new Mold Project.
New File	NC File	Open a new NC file in the defined units of measurement (mm/inch).
New Project	Parting Setup Wizard.	Setup a new Parting Project (including a work part and parting surfaces).
New Project	Progressive Die Setup Wizard	Setup a new Progressive Die assembly.
File Operation	Save	Save (Ctrl + S) the active file.
File Operation	Save All	Save all currently open files.
File Operation	Save As - Drawing Template	Save the drafting sheet as a template. This saves a Drawing containing multiple Sheets as a Drawing Template. If a Drawing only contains a single Sheet, it will be saved as a Sheet Template (as in Save Sheet as Template). For additional information, see Saving a Drawing Template. This icon is displayed when a drafting file is open.
File Operation	Save As - Copy Include (Dependent Files)	Save As - copy the main file and all dependent files.
File Operation	Save As - Main File Only	Save As - copy only the main file (and not its dependent files).
File Operation	Save As - Template	Save the current file as a template. For additional information, see File Templates and Saving a File Template.
File Tools	Save Image	Save a picture of the current display.
File Operation	Save in Linked Mode	A Linked Drawing is one that holds a link to the model(s) that was used for the view creation. The models are not kept inside the drawing file; instead, the system keeps a link to the source file of the models. This reduces the file size of drawings. This mode applies to the entire drawing, and not to specific views or sheets. The icon is displayed when a drafting file is open.
File Operation	Save in Self-Contained Mode	A Self-Contained Drawing is one that includes the models that were used for the view creation. The model(s) are kept inside the drawing file; these types file contain the entire data of the part or assembly they show. While this allows you to work with the drawing file even if it is separated from the original data, it can result in a large drawing file size. The icon is displayed when a drafting file is open.
Environment	Switch to CAD Mode	Switch to CAD mode. This icon is displayed when an NC file is open.
Environment	Switch to CAM Mode	Switch to CAM (NC) mode. This icon is displayed when an NC file is open.
New Project	Transfer Die Setup Wizard	Setup a new Transfer Die assembly.
File Tools	Unpack	Unpack (extract) Cimatron files from a single Compressed Transfer File (CTF).

The following tool groups are available under the File menu:

Exit Tools	This group of functions is used for exiting and closing file operations.
Export Tools	This group of functions is used for export operations.
File Operations Tools	This group of functions is used for file-related operations, such as opening and saving files.
File Tools	This group of functions is used for file-related operations, such as packing, unpacking, and printing.
Import Tools	This group of functions is used for import operations.
New File Tools	This group of functions is used for creating new files.
New Project Tools	This group of functions is used to invoke the following Setup processes: Electrode Setup, Mold Setup, Parting Setup, Progressive Die Setup and Transfer Die Setup.

Note: All operations are also accessible through the menu bar and / or toolbar icons.
