Cimatron Part > Face Functions

A Face is a planar (flat) surface that forms part of the boundary of a solid object.

The following functions appear under the Faces menu.

The table below can be sorted; it has clickable headers that sort the table by the clicked column. The table is initially sorted by Function name.

Menu Section   Function

Create Faces

3 Face Fillet

Create a fillet face tangent to three groups of smooth faces.

Modify Faces

Bend

Bend objects around an axis.

Main Tools

Blend

Create a face by blending (connecting) between edges, sketches, contours, curves, and points.

Modify Faces

Boundary

Extend a face beyond its boundaries or complete its missing islands.

Main Tools

Bounded

Create a face bounded by a contour.

Create Faces

Cap Internal Islands

By default, this tool will close open gaps in a solid object, or create internal parting faces in the parting surface part by closing gaps on the work part faces. In addition, you can manually pick other internal loops to enable the function to build capping faces.

Create Faces

Close Open Gaps

Create faces that close open gaps in a skin of stitched faces

Modify Faces

Composite Face

Combine groups of smooth faces into a single face (one face for each group). A group can either be a sequence of adjacent faces with a smooth connection between them, or a sequence of adjacent faces of the same type (planar, cone, cylinder, torus, sphere, etc.).

Modify Faces

Deform Faces

Modify a face or a group of stitched faces by defining a set of constraints.

Create Faces

Drive

Create one or more faces by driving sections over rails and/or spines.

Main Tools

Extend

Extend faces beyond their edges. This extends one or more faces (or creates new faces) on the edges of open or stitched faces.

Create Faces

Extend by Draft Angle

Extend (unbend) parts along the draft angle of round faces.

Create Faces

Extend Planar & Cones

Extend stitched adjacent simple faces to reach a reference geometry (closed sketch, closed 2D composite or planar face).

This function enables you to extend adjacent planar, cylindrical or conic faces (belonging to the same object) or NURBs that can be simplified to these types) for creating Binder Faces.

Create Faces

Face-Curve Fillet

Create a fillet that is tangent to a set of smooth faces and goes through a curve.

Modify Faces

Fair

Change the shape of a face by fairing it (smoothing and reducing the number of control points).

Create Faces

Fillet

Create fillet faces between two (2) sets of smoothly connected faces. Each set may consist of one or more faces that may be trimmed or split as required. Sometimes it can be unneccessary to trim or split faces when performing a fillet operation, such as when one face will be needed later in separate face operations-The fillet operation provides that option.

Create Faces

Fillet Corner

Create a fillet corner face connecting three other fillet faces.

Create Faces

Fuzzy Offset

Create an approximate offset surface out of a complex skin surface.

Create Faces

Mesh

Create a face by defining a mesh of curves/edges (sections and cross sections).

Main Tools

Modify By Sketcher

Modify the boundaries of a face by projecting them onto a plane and manipulating them with the Sketcher tools.

Main Tools

Offset

Create one or more faces that are offset from existing faces.

Create Faces

Revolve

Create a face by revolving a curve/edge.

Modify Faces

Round Corner

Round sharp corners of faces.

Modify Faces

Sharp Corner

Create sharp corners on faces.

Create Faces

Skin (Face)

Create a surface that interpolates a series of sections with a guide curve.

Modify Faces

Slope

Modify the slopes at the edges of a face.

Modify Faces

Smoothness

Control the smoothness of the connections between stitched faces.

Main Tools

Split Faces

Split faces by geometry.

Modify Faces

Split Silhouette

Split faces by silhouette curves based on a "lighting" direction.

Main Tools

Stitch

Stitch faces that are separate objects into one object.

Main Tools

Sweep

Create a face by sweeping a curve, edge, contour or sketch in a specified direction.

Main Tools

Trim Face

Trim faces by geometry.

Modify Faces

Unbend

Unbend and flatten specific areas of the die part along cylindrical and planar faces. The length of the original faces remain the same without any changes after the unbending result is achieved.

Main Tools

Unstitch

Separate faces of objects into individual objects.

Create Faces

Warp Faces

Recreate a face according to defined constraints.

Modify Faces

Wrap

Wrap geometry (faces/wires/curve/points) from an original face onto a target face.
