Cimatron Part > Face Functions
The following functions appear under the Faces menu.
The table below can be sorted; it has clickable headers that sort the table by the clicked column. The table is initially sorted by Function name.
Menu Section | Function | ||
Create a fillet face tangent to three groups of smooth faces. |
Bend objects around an axis. |
Create a face by blending (connecting) between edges, sketches, contours, curves, and points. |
Extend a face beyond its boundaries or complete its missing islands. |
Create a face bounded by a contour. |
By default, this tool will close open gaps in a solid object, or create internal parting faces in the parting surface part by closing gaps on the work part faces. In addition, you can manually pick other internal loops to enable the function to build capping faces. |
Create faces that close open gaps in a skin of stitched faces |
Combine groups of smooth faces into a single face (one face for each group). A group can either be a sequence of adjacent faces with a smooth connection between them, or a sequence of adjacent faces of the same type (planar, cone, cylinder, torus, sphere, etc.). |
Modify a face or a group of stitched faces by defining a set of constraints. |
Create one or more faces by driving sections over rails and/or spines. |
Extend faces beyond their edges. This extends one or more faces (or creates new faces) on the edges of open or stitched faces. |
Extend (unbend) parts along the draft angle of round faces. |
Extend stitched adjacent simple faces to reach a reference geometry (closed sketch, closed 2D composite or planar face). This function enables you to extend adjacent planar, cylindrical or conic faces (belonging to the same object) or NURBs that can be simplified to these types) for creating Binder Faces. |
Create a fillet that is tangent to a set of smooth faces and goes through a curve. |
Change the shape of a face by fairing it (smoothing and reducing the number of control points). |
Create fillet faces between two (2) sets of smoothly connected faces. Each set may consist of one or more faces that may be trimmed or split as required. Sometimes it can be unneccessary to trim or split faces when performing a fillet operation, such as when one face will be needed later in separate face operations-The fillet operation provides that option. |
Create a fillet corner face connecting three other fillet faces. |
Create an approximate offset surface out of a complex skin surface. |
Create a face by defining a mesh of curves/edges (sections and cross sections). |
Modify the boundaries of a face by projecting them onto a plane and manipulating them with the Sketcher tools. |
Create one or more faces that are offset from existing faces. |
Create a face by revolving a curve/edge. |
Round sharp corners of faces. |
Create sharp corners on faces. |
Create a surface that interpolates a series of sections with a guide curve. |
Modify the slopes at the edges of a face. |
Control the smoothness of the connections between stitched faces. |
Split faces by geometry. |
Split faces by silhouette curves based on a "lighting" direction. |
Stitch faces that are separate objects into one object. |
Create a face by sweeping a curve, edge, contour or sketch in a specified direction. |
Trim faces by geometry. |
Unbend and flatten specific areas of the die part along cylindrical and planar faces. The length of the original faces remain the same without any changes after the unbending result is achieved. |
Separate faces of objects into individual objects. |
Recreate a face according to defined constraints. |
Wrap geometry (faces/wires/curve/points) from an original face onto a target face. |
The following menu sections are available under the Faces menu.
This group of functions is used to create faces. |
This group of functions is used to perform operations on existing faces. |
This group of functions is used to modify existing faces. |
Notes:
-
All operations are also accessible either through the menu bar and / or toolbar icons.
-
If you have imported a file from another system, you can check and fix problematic faces using the Tools > Geometry > Check & Fix Entities function.
