General Preferences

Access: Invoke this function from one of the following locations:

Click on the General preference item.

Define general preferences.

 

Parameters defined in the Preferences will be set as defaults throughout Cimatron. This automatic definition of parameters can save you time and also ensures consistency.

The following General Preferences can be defined (listed alphabetically):

Add Picture Size

Define the default picture size for the Add Pictures function.

Auto Activation

Define whether to enable feature creation in non-active assembly components.

AutoSave (for Recovery)

Set the automatic save for recovery option and define the interval between each save. This automatic save is for abort recovery only and does not actually save your file.

Backup

Define how to back up files when you save them.

BOM

Define the BOM (Bill of Materials) default settings, including the initial Save location for the BOM Report.

CMM XYZ Labeling

Set default attributes for the CMM (XYZ Labeling) function.

Colors and Styles

Define default colors and the display of hidden edges throughout Cimatron.

Data Interface

Set the general Import and Export Data Interface parameters.

Disconnected Symbols

Define the default display style for disconnected symbols. These are symbols that lose their source entities.

Display

Define display parameters.

Drag and Drop Files

Define the default settings when dragging one or more Cimatron part or assembly files or recognized part files from an external format file (for which you have a license) from any browser into an open assembly file.

Drag Views

Define the default settings when dragging views. Dragging views occurs when aligning/positioning views.

Drawing Default Save Mode

Define the default save model for new drawings.

ECO Management

Set the default general Engineering Change Order (ECO) Management preferences.

Export

Set the default export folder when using the Export to New Part function.

General NC

Define general NC preferences. More specific NC related preferences can be defined in NC Preferences.

Importing NC Cutters

Define the temporary folder location for the import of TDM Systems (TDM) and Sandvik Coromant CoroPlus© Tool Library cutter files to Cimatron. In addition, set preferences for deleting or retaining the files after import.

Increment

Set the default increment values for mm, inches, and degrees.

Intersection Tolerance

Set the default intersection tolerance.

Keep Last Parameters

Set the defaults for keeping the last used parameter values. This enables the last used parameter values to be displayed when invoking a function.

Logfile

Set the default log file level.

M-View Section

Define the shade modes for the sectioned face, as Opaque, Semi-Transparent, or Transparent.

M-Views

Define the default visibility option in assembly M-Views.

Manufacturing Attributes

Enable the automatic integration of user-defined hole marking attributes within part files.  

Measuring Precision

Define the number of precision digits after the decimal point.

Menus & Toolbars

Define whether or not dropdown menus are automatically expanded when hovering over a menu title.

On Screen Controls

Set the default display characteristics of various features.

Preferred Text Heights

Define the preferred Text heights for drafting and modeling environments.

Recalculate Part Size in Save

Define whether to automatically recalculate the part size while saving the part. The part size refers to the bounding box of the visible faces only; curves are not included in the bounding box calculations.

Recent Files

Set the number of recent files each menu section retains.

Recently Used Text

Reuse recently used text strings in text fields.

Reconnect

Choose whether to open the Reconnect dialog when opening files with missing connections (links).

Save Part Pictures

Save images of parts when saving the assembly. This will serve to show a preview picture of the part when clicking it in the Cimatron Explorer.

Selection

Specify how / whether you want partially and/or fully contained entities to be included in the selection box.

Sets

When changing the set color of Single Color Criteria Sets, define the option that determines whether the color of entities that are currently in the set should be changed to the new color.

Sketcher

Choose either a grid and/or reference plane to appear when using the Sketcher.

Status Icon Animation

Control the animation of file status icons.

Thread Colors

Set the visibility and color for threads and define the colors for threads and ejectors when they are displayed as active.

Tooltips

Control the display of pictures in tooltips.

Datum Planes

Set the default size at which a free plane is created.

UCS

Set the size of the displayed UCS.

Update Mode

Choose whether to update manually or automatically. You can choose one update mode for all applications or set different modes for each application.

ZPR

Set the dynamic ZPR (Zoom, Pan, Rotate) buttons, key configurations, and other ZPR functionality.
